The Juggling act…

Hey there–it’s been a bit. I’m in the middle of a variety of things at the moment. I’m delving deep into marketing because I foresee getting drawn into it as I set to release a serial of stories next year. And really, for independent authors like myself, taking up marketing is the name of the game.

I’ve been reading more and more about how it’s the life blood of any author–even the ones getting picked up by traditional publishing. It seems the big 5 are doing less and less marketing for their authors and pushing a lot of of it back on them. I don’t exactly understand the what’s and why’s but that’s what’s being said. The one big advantage of getting traditionally published was getting some marketing behind your books, but apparently the big 5 are cutting corners.

So, here I am. It will be a good thing because if I can find my readers then I’m good to go. In addition to that, I’m also bouncing around on Twitter (@CraigLCrawford). I’ve made several friends and a couple of people I am learning from about this whole authoring thing. And I have my favorite peeps there too 🙂

In between those two things, I’m still firing out stories. See my publishing page, but Unsettling Reads just picked up a story of mine called The Winter Lights. I’m really excited about that one because while it’s not exactly scary, I think it fits with the press because the story is atmospheric and . . . unsettling by story’s end. Check it out and see if you agree 🙂

And finally, I’m still finding time to write new stories and do editing on a new novel I finished earlier this year. Yeah. Hard to find time, but this is really where I want to be in the writing world. Juggling projects and publications is what this is all about and even though I have my overwhelmed days, I still love it!

So, forgive my falling down on posting on the 4th and 24th, but I am going to get back at it.

Hang in there, keep the faith and I will see you again soon!
